Key and lock problems

Featured Replies

Skoda Oct 1.9tdi 02 plate.

Both remotes stopped working a year or so ago, despite new batteries, the red light doesnt operate and they feel dead, the buttons were stiff for a while and then went.

Hence I have used the key in the drivers door and boot for a while.

Now the boot turning right to lock is very stiff and wont operate central locking, unlock is smooth and operates CL.

Drivers door, unlock again, unlocks all, lock only does the drivers door.

Current method to secure the car is press the lock button on door inside, then lock the drivers door !

Also, may be connected, for a few months the car didnt know when the drivers door was open, hence interior light, headlight warning didnt work. Now it is the opposite and it thinks the door is always open, had to disconnect the door red light to save battery !

Q1. Where is the posh equiv of the plunger door switch ? I always thought it was the metal prong at the bottom of the door that fits into a plastic recess on the body when the door shuts. Assumed this was a magnet with a reed s/w in the body. Then read there is a sensor in the lock mechanism itself. Do I really have to go through the pain of taking door card off - is there then anything I can do or will it need new lock - any idea how much ?

Q2. I want to get 2 new operational keys, prefer flip type if poss, but would stick with current for cost ? Have 2 std keys, both transponders work. Markings on key blade part "Hella 434Mhz 008444 008548 5FA 0678". I have looked for the IFO number on the other half, taken it apart to battery level but cant see it, was sure I saw it last time I looked though. Scared to use Ebay, dont want 10 keys like ScottS, scared to use dealer to end up £300 poorer. If I get the right remote bits should be ok to do myself, have 2 working keys so no transponder issues.

Might have what you need here :

Hickleys :: Keys and Remotes for Skoda Vehicles

I sent them a query and they never answered. Nevertheless, I ordered what I thought I needed, too soon to say if it's going to turn up or not.

So although probably OK, I can't exactly recommend them.

Kandy - which parts did you order. I think I would just need the AKRM28, although at £50 a pop they are still quite a price.

I didn't want the same thing as you, I just ordered a couple of plain keys, hopefully with the correct immo chip in (I've got VAGCOM & the SKC to code it). As I expect you know, the remote c/l function can be re-synced without VAGCOM so isn't a problem for you if you get just the remote section and put your old key blade/immo chip assembly onto it.
