Comfort & Central Locking

Featured Replies

I've just bought my 2000 Fabia comfort (1.4 16v) I was under the impression that the COMFORT had remote central locking???

I've only got one key and that's just the normal chipped one with no fob?

I spoke to my local dealer who say the early ones didn't have this... but the brochure with the car says it does!

I am sure it should- and if so how much am i looking at for a new one??

Our 2001 Comfort doesn't have central locking - so I think the dealer is right...

Our 2001 Comfort does have central locking - the buttons for it are on the key :)

My key appears to have a circular button looking thing.... but it's not working... I will take it in for them to look at... I need a spare key either way.

Strange how they say the comfort has it though??

If that is what I'm thinking of and the key is rectangular it is a small torch built in to the key... not a central locking button. :o

Isn't that just a torch? VWs of that year had a tiny torch in the key.

Our key has two buttons on it - one is to lock (symbol of a closed padlock) and one to unlock (symbol of an open padlock)

I have a 2001 Comfort 16v without remote central locking. From what I remember from when I was buying it (2nd hand) the remote locking was an option which mine didn't have, but a 2001 Comfort 8v did.

Big typo

My old 2000 Comfort 1.4 8v did have central locking

Sorry - I meant remote central locking. It still has the central locking via the key. . .

Well my early 2000 (Feb) Comfort 8V has Remote CL with alarm and the 2 flick keys...its strange how they all seem to be different?

That's what mine had! I'm quite confused.

It's not a torch... I don't know...

When I bought my car from the garage, the origional brochure for the car is in the glove box, with all the ticks next to what the previous owner could choose from ie: interior & paint.... and it does state that comfort and elegance models came with remote central locking... with the flick keys and two buttons??

How can some have remote locking and others not???

I have confirmed it...

My Car does not have remote central locking.. not a big problem... just stops me been lazy! :(

Plus side it's £46 for a new key!!!

Wifes Car a 1.4 8V comfort (2003) came with 2 Keys, both traditional looking keys with no separate fob. One has two buttons with lock/unlock the car. The other key is just a normal key with no remote locking facility. Oddly both keys look old so either one was replaced early on or that was how it was originally supplied.

I thought that mine was the spare and the master (presumed lost by previous owner) would be the fob/key... My car simply doesn't have remote locking! :confuse:

I'll just have to remember to lock my doors!

Thanks for your input guys. :-D

If you have manual key central locking it should be easy and cheap enough to upgrade it to remote central locking. There was a kit available years ago for VW cars, and I think that it was available as a dealer supply option for the Skodas too.
