OEM Xenons - Height Adjustment Switch

Featured Replies

Hi,

Done a search on here and the common concensus is that if you've got OEM Xenons then you've not got a height adjustment switch by the headlight control... so why does my vRS have this switch? It doesn't do anything, I just wondered if perhaps mine have been retrofitted at a later date.

The lights certainly are Xenon, and I've got the headlight washers/ projector units etc all as OEM. I've never noticed the lights self-levelling - I see other cars do this, is this standard procedure on Xenon-equipped Fabias?

Just curious as I'm probably going to get mine adjusted to the max legal-limit within the next week and I hoping that mine are the genuine article!

Cheers.

Adjustment takes place within the headlamp unit, If you drive up to a wall or garage door and turn on the headlights and watch the beam cut-off you can see them adjusting, Though its very subtle.

The adjustment on OEM xenons is done automatically and controlled by a sensor on the rear torsion beam. You will need vag com or a dealer to adjust them look under the car and you will see it, not sure why you have a switch fitted.

Do the washers work?

Could the switch of which you speak be the dashboard illumination brightness control?

The washers work as per normal and it's certainly got the bigger screenwash tank as it takes an age to fill up!

Just had a try outside (car is facing the garage for once) and I did see the lights adjust - very subtle though!

Still don't know why I've got the switch for height adjustment - it's next to the other thumb-switch that adjusts the dash lighting brightness. I'm presuming everybody else with a Xenon-equipped Fabia has this blanked-off?

It does not have it on the OEM Xenon-equipped vRS, it just has the dash brightness thing there. One thing that may have happened is that the switch failed or got broken somehow and a second hand one was fitted from a non-Xenon version, not sure though :)
