Featured Replies

Part number is S038906051C

never heard of one of those , is it the same as th MAP sensor which is fitted in the intercooler ?

edit , just checked Vagcat , and it is one and the same

Good info guys

So should I take that if my MAP (or thrust) sensor was at fault, I might expect some of the same error codes that Irf has showing?

Cheers,

Steve

Yes it does, if you want it :D

Can't rule out that it wasn't playing some part in the issue, but on the other hand could still be 100%.

Any more ideas for possible resolution, o great one?

Steve

If you dont mind mate, kinda need it now :)

Car's in at Awesome today...

Failed turbo VNT mechanism is the cause. Oh joy :mad:

Either turbo re-build or new unit time then :D

Steve

Oh dear.

Nothing to do with that hilarious peak on the map then Steve?

Keep us posted mate.

Those few graph anomalies could well be related to this, yes. TD are going to have the unit back in to inspect, and advise further.

Just need to sort out when it can come off, and whether I'll re-fit the KKK in the meantime etc.

Hi Steve

Sorry to be right (will kick Mark later) what are you going to do?

Sarah

Get it built to stage 2 mate:thumbup:

If it is a warranty job ask TD for the stage 2 instead, even if you do have to pay a little bit more.

Just get a better map than the previous one I had:(

Hi Sarah - turbo will be taken off and returned to TD. Hope to then get it sorted under warranty with them.

Steve

how much are turbos for a vRS ?

  • Author

Depends which one you get, and where you get it from :)

Uprated hybrid units from TD are around £1000. If you look in the right places, a new standard Garrett unit can be had for around £600.

Steve

Is yours a stage 2 Steve??

If its vnt mech failure it shouldn't be a problem getting it sorted with TD mate. :)

Oooh , nice one , glad it is getting done under warranty ;)

Just thought it was a megga expensive repair at this time of year too , it would not be good

They'll need to take it in for assessment, but yes I would very much like it to be under warranty :)

It's a VB Garrett (PD150 turbo), uprated to stage 1. Didn't want mega power from it, and didn't want the extra lag from the larger compressor wheel....
