Leadtime for new Octy

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about changing my car early next year - what's the current leadtime from order to delivery?

I'd want to be able to specify some factory fit options, so doubt that the right model/colour/spec would be in stock anywhere.

We keep hearing on the news that cars aren't being produced as they were, with same manufacturers closing down for 4+ weeks, and others not building new cars as they have loads sat in fields etc - Surely this will effect the leadtime somehow.

Also, if there aren't the number of new cars being sold, does it therefore take longer to fill the boat up before it sails, or does it come across part empty?

I doubt anyone can answer this with any level of certainty as the facelift will not be available in the UK to order until sometime in Jan (I assume you are talking about the facelift as you simply cannot have a pre-facelift factory order any longer). I would hazard a guess that you'd be looking at 8-12 weeks which appears to be the norm for factory ordered Skoda's. Although I accept Skoda, like all manufacturers, are cutting down on production that is unlikely to alter the lead time as there are less cars being ordered, so one will balance the other. If they had a rush on (some hope!) one would assume that they would re-instate the Friday shift that they are dropping.

Another issue that might affect the lead time, although not so obvious, is the engine/gearbox combo. The 1.8Tsi with DSG (only be available in L&K initially for the facelift Octy) has had supply issues that has affected 'Superb' lead times although that is bound to be easing by early next year.

I'll be in the same position as you come Jan - looking to buy but knowing it's going to be a factory order job. I'm just waiting to find out what each trim level offers before doing the maths and then seeing what deal I can strike!

Yes you can, the VRs can still be factory ordered.

As that isnt being face lifted.

I thought it was, and due Q2 2009?

It'll either be another 4x4 or a Scout...

Agreed, I was assuming the Op was talking about the one of the non vRS versions as posters tend to mention if its a vRS there're talking about - but it's wise to never assume :).

By reference to the price list for the facelift Octy range I see that the vRS will receive the MY 09 interior updates but not exterior: I quote:

"* Note - Scout and vRS only receive the MY09 upgrades and not the exterior facelift alterations"

So I read into this that if you order the vRS (or Scout!) from the facelift release in Jan you would receive a facelift version albeit at that time just the interior mods. I believe the exterior mods come along in June 2009 as well as the Scout.

The Scout isn't being facelifted until later next year but the 4x4 facelift can be ordered now.

I've got a PDF of the new pricelist and cost of options if you want it.

James, Is there any chance you could attach the new pricelist to this post, or email me a copy? I'm interested in the facelifted Octavia, depsite waiting for a new Superb to be delivered.

I missed the above post...

Do you still need a copy of the facelift brochure?
