Octavia TDI doesnt pull???

Featured Replies

Hi,

I went to look at another Octavia 110 TDI the other day!

And the car was great condidtion 105,000 miles all in order service wise and it was a bargin by being well under £2000.

The thing id like to know is, Is there any common fault with these cars that it wont pull correctly?

Ive had my TDi Octy remapped and it goes really well but thios one when i took it for a short( 4-5 mile) drive, it was only returning 25 ish mpg!

And it didnt pull well, it was painfully slow!

I thought the cat might have gone, or is there another reason for this?

I know comparing it to mine it will be slow but this was bad by any car's standards, would just like to know if it was an easy fix or if i was right to walk away!

sounds like the typical faulty air mass meter problem if not a faulty turbo.

:iagree:

It sounds like the MAF. A quick test is to remove the connector from the MAF and see if the performance improves or stays the same. Both are an indication of MAF failure. The MAF is the short round piece of pipe coming out of the air filter.

If you have access to VAG-com you can log Engine Measuring Block 3 (even though you can't scope whole blocks on the freeware version - only the first item).

See Bosch MAF for more info

Should you need to change it, I suggest you put in a new air filter and clean out the filter box. The parts required are.

S038906461C MAF 59.57+VAT (Make sure you get the 'C' version)

S1J0129620 Air Filter 11.40+VAT
