Fabia boot light

Featured Replies

A small problem that I hope that you good folks can help me with. I have a Fabia 1.4 and recently the boot light has been working intermittantly. Finally got around to looking at it today, I have replaced the bulb and still works intermittantly. Suspect that there must be a swtch that opereates when the tail gate is opened.

Has anyone got any ideas on where abouts this switch may be.

Thanks alot in advance.

Inside the latch that holds the boot shut.

Thanks for the quick reply, will have a look and let you know. TYhanks again

Had that problem on mine. I flooded the switch with WD40 then spray grease. Has been working normally since I did it.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but perhaps it makes sense to keep all boot light q's in one thread for future briskodians?

Anyone know off hand what size the boot light is? Looking to replace it with LED and nothing on autobulbsdirect regarding it.......

It's a 501 W5W capless.

But, If you fit an LED it will glow constantly,

Been there, Done that!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Odd - mine doesn't!

So the same one as the side bulbs in the overhead light?

Shouldnt the latch turn the led off when the boots closed?

It will glow dimly when it is meant to be turned off. Easily sorted with a resistor soldered in line to draw off the small residual current which makes it glow. You can even buy bulbs with resistors already integrated into the bulb to do this. Most will be advertised as being suitable for can-bus cars with warning lights for blown bulbs.

With the interior light you can just solder the appropriate resistor to the back of the long bulb. Forget which type of resistor is best, would have to research it again. :)

Oh cr*p....already ordered LEDs for the interior overhead light and glovebox. I didnt think resistorless ones would matter as I was pretty sure this old fabia didnt have warning lights for blown bulbs.

Yeah the only thing is the dim glow when meant to be off.

If it bothers you at night, I think a 1/4 watt, 470 Ohm resistor should work. If your model has the 3 bulb arrangement, 2 reading lights and a centre festoon bulb - just solder the resistor to the back of the festoon bulb. This should kill the dim light in all 3 bulbs.

Thank you. If the dim glow stops looking cool ill do that :D

I just replaced my map lights with LED's which aren't glowing at all, just the normal on/off

I fitted an LED striplight to my stealth shelf.

Lit up the boot like Christmas but it glowed as mentioned above.

I now have mine on a plug in junction block so when I need it

I plug it in. I leave it unplugged most of the time though.

It's rarely so dark that I can't see what's in the boot.
