Featured Replies

hi all i bought a skoda superb not running!

thinking this will be an easy fix,

car still ran but needed to be jumped with another car all the time!

batt was fine alt was puttin out good charge so prob wasnt goin to be so easy to fix now:thumbdwn:

anyway noticed the floor was wet so started to think maybe water has got into elecs so set about tryin to find were it was cumin from managed to find it was cumin in through the pollon fitter!

so then pulled up the carpet to see what damge had been done to connections in the end up i noticed that there was water getting to the ecu! so tryed to clean up ecu and guess what its just to bad to repair.

so i am just going to break it up for parts.

If it's just the CCM ECU which is affected, the car is worth a repair if you got it cheap enough. The Bosch engine ECU which is just in front of the firewall on the driver's side is a much better sealed unit and these give very little trouble - despite VAG's lousy water sealing.

I would have thought a repair to the loom and a new CCM with programming may fix this - it you go to a knowledgeable independent. As this is a standard VAG **** op, they've seen hundreds of them.

I'm with Roto on this, a couple of well placed repairs and it'll be back on the road.

Unless it happens to have Xenon headlamps, in which case break it and PM me ;)

If it is the water ingress and you're pretty handy, then there's a possibility of a cheap repair.

Down side is that the Superb is a lemon and looses value quicker than a bright pink Bentley Continental with red spots, so it probably won't hold much profit.

What spec is it? Classic/Comfort/Elegance etc?

classic i think! not got v5 yet.

is there anyway of telling what it is without v5?

The toys :)

Classic spec's not got a fat lot, the Elegance has loads - the fact it's not got Xeons suggests to me it's not the top spec. Has it got chrome strips on the plastic rubbing strips?

More to the point (for me) - has it got a steering wheel with controls on it?

Yeah, that's almost certainly the Classic model. Pretty entrance level TBH - that's about what mine cost new...

Still, what colour is it? I could use a couple of bumpers if they're Nightfire Blue and in good nick...

Hm, yeh, fair point actually - can you PM me a price for the front grille posted? Mine's taken a bit of a whack.

Hi

Just a thought - what condition are the interior door handles? If they are not peeling there may be some interest there.

Many thanks.
