air filters

Featured Replies

looking at getting a new filter for my mk1 05 octy vrs any recomendations cone or panel whats the best for future mods.

In the past I've had K&N cone, panel, AEM CAI and Ebay CAI on my cars, but the best of the bunch has defo been the BMC CDA! Best power gains (in my experience) and great sound.

The other best alternative would seem to be the Carbonio. Some people have also ran the standard box but de-finned it for smoother flow and added a green panel.

I,ve got a k and n panel one in mine and tbh cant tell any difference:(

ok all sounds good but who are aem, and bmc cda or carbino ( i must sound really thick )

more of a biker that a driver it's the wife's car ya see

Fatbob, just do a search in Ebay and plenty should come up. US Ebay for AEM.

I've got a Piper X panel with a drilled box.

The general consensus seems to be no they don't really give a power increase but they sound great :D

Had my Corrado VR6 dyno'd before and after- 190bhp before, 197bhp after. Others on the Corrado Forum have had similar results. Not had the vRS dyno'd yet.

Got mine for £40 second hand on Fleabay.

Filter will last the life of the car. I clean and re-oil mine every 10K.

Opinion seems to be that gains are better on high performance n/a engines, VR6 ,R32 etc. Would be interested in before and after dynos with yours Andy if you still have original airbox. Have only heard good things about BMC CDA, and noise is meant to be good...

Yeh, large capacity engines seem to fare very well with them. Still have the original airbox- would defo be good to try before and after sometime.

You're right about the noise!
