bonnet/wing rattle?

Featured Replies

does anyone else have a rattle when they shut their front doors? seems like the rattle is coming from the bonnet or the wing, maybe as if they are vibrating against eash other?

anyone?

Radiator mounts are probably fubar. Try and move the radiator and see what play it has. HTH

Might be the heatshield for the cat that's making the rattle, mine was doing this only held on one side as the weld had broken off.

also, how do you cure the rattle if it is radiator mounts? are they a straight replace or is it a new rad?

Radiator mounts can be replaced but front bumper has to come off.

I had the rad mounts replaced on mine, but I still get a rattle. There is a slight rattle when I tap the wing near the repeater lens, but I think the grille also contributes to the noise also.

Sounds like it's the rad mounts to me. Got the same prob myself but haven't got round to sorting it out yet. You can temporaraly fix it by sticking some foam between the lower mount and the front panel.

ill have a look in the morning and have a look, im sure i could sort sumthin out without havin 2 take the bumper off, maybe ill make some sort of shim to go in the gap

If you look under the front bumper, there are some small shields in front of the front wheels, on each side of the large main under tray. These have a habit of rattling in my experience.. I cured mine with a little dab of silicone on the offending edge.

I also had an issue with the bonnet release cable vibrating on the under side of the bonnet, close to the OSF strut top. I just moved the cable slightly.

Failing these too, I guess the rad mounts are the most likely contender.
