can any kind person tell me why my 1995 favorit steering sqeeks when parking

or in a tight spot so have to go from lock to lockj

Steering column plastic?

depending on the squeak, and if it power steering.

if its not power steering, there is a little screw that make steering more firm (and thats its job) if it's got loose, then the pressure will be uneven and it would squeak, (but only when your putting force to turn, when turning lightly i wouldn't)

Will most likely be track rod ends. On my favorit the track rod ends were rusted to the track rods and there was no flats on the track rod to get a good grip. A blow torch may have got them off but didn't bother trying as was replacing the rack anyway. The new rack had flat bits on the track rods.

It might be a dry column bush, or it might be a rod end.

The rod end is more likely if you're heaving the steering from lock to lock with the car standing still (which is bas for the steering and tyres).
