Warning like Thermometer

Featured Replies

Dear Friends, weather is not good in Turkey, it is snowing nowadays, and 0 degree approximately, yesterday morning and today morning, i met the warning as below picture like thermometer sign, while i was starting my car first time in the morning, but i didn't see the subject warning while i was returning my home in afternoon times, what is your ideas? is it related with degrees? or is it related because of other problem? Thanks for your helps, and hello from Turkey.musty001zx1.jpg

that warning is for a low engine coolant level. My car seems to do it on very cold mornings as well. Check the coolant in the engine bay (its a round "storage tank" and filled with pink liquid).

It may require a little top up.

Thanks Wabey,

should i fill with only pink antifreeze? how can i find the pink antifreeze? what is it's exact name?

just found it, i should fill with G12 pink antifreeze liquid,

thanks again,

This is a common problem on VAG engines and happens even when the coolant level is fine.

If you open the coolant bottle and look inside you will see a metal sensor going into the fluid. IIRC it is split into two like a fork. These just need a gently scrape with a flat head screw driver to clear them of any muck and grime, and the problem should go away.

I had this issue last year with my Seat Leon, and after scraping the metal it never did it again.

:iagree: My vRS has done it for about 2.5yrs  CBA scraping the contacts though, I just keep an eye on the coolant level.

Not sure if the fabia is the same as the leon (my fab hasn't done it yet) but the leon used to make that horrendous beep when the collant sensor was playing up, and it used to annoy the hell out of me, so i just decided to scrape the contacts so i had one less beep to worry about :D

ok Friends, i will try to clean metal sensor in today after go out from the work, now i am in office,

did you meaned that it was wrong warning? if ok, there is no need to fill with pink liquid(antifreeze),

besides, my car shaked too, when i started first in this morning, degree was also -2,5,

because of this, i suppose that i should fill G12 pink antifreeze liquid, maybe,

i will inform the result whenever solve,

sorry i forgot to tell my car is Skoda Fabia Ambiente 2005 TDI, 75ps

If the coolant level is correct then try cleaning the contacts.

If it is low then top it up with the correct coolant that your handbook advises.

It is quite common so don't worry too much, but if it is low and you top it up, check on it daily incase you have a leak.
