quick Q, hub nut torque settings

Featured Replies

does anyone know the torque settings needed for the front hubs on a TDi? Got a bit of a rattle on the bearings which need tightening up

thanks

andrew

For the fabia the hub nut is tightened to 50Nm and given an extra 45 degrees. Same could apply but i have no way to verify in my armoury. :D

50nm seems light

The Haynes manual for the Octavia(1998 to 2004) including diesels is:

Stage 1: 225NM or 166lbft

Stage 2: Turn wheel Hub at Least 90'

Stage 3: Apply a further 50NM or 37lbft

Stage 4: Angle tighten a further 60 degrees. (equivalant to 2 points on a 12-point nut)

Just for the hub nut?!

Yes thats right.

The Fabia uses a different system so ignore J's ramblings ;)

Fair play. Just shows that octy driveshafts are held on much better then. :D

thanks for that Bowders

No worries. That's what we are hear for. I had fun trying to get that torque on my Octy. Ended up tighten up to 150lbs and driving to my local Garage to do the rest.
