Dashboard Pod

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2001 Fabia Estate 1.4 16v.

What I have been wondering is; when looking at the dash under the right light I can see door/boot open lights but they never light up. Is this because; a) it's mullered or B) it was a feature on Elegance models only?

If it is B) and a feature I don't have, is it possible that it can be turned on via VAGCOM or will the dash pod be lacking the wiring and bulbs etc?

The same goes for the washer/bulb lights, never seen these even when I know the bulb has gone, or is this a feature on later cars only?

Cheers for any input, Joe

They will be features on other cars and yours wont have the wiring for them. They are tight like that.

Cheers, was hoping I wouldn't get that answer. Surely it makes sense to have one pod with everything in and save making several different variations  but what do us mere mortals know?

I expect using the same dash pod is cost effective, but not installing wiring looms and bulbs to how ever many lower spec models are on the road has saved them a significant amount of money in the long run.

And if all the models had these 'extras' as standard, what would would tempt them to pay more for a higher spec model? ;)
