What is the best thing to use to key the surface of the chrome on the grille?

I assume once keyed you just use normal grey metal primer?

I have tried a scouring pad, 240 grit and 80 grit and it doesnt seem to key it at all.

dont you have to soak it in bleach to get the chrome to flake off!!

That's what I tried with one but it just went all cocked up.

I have done a few now and non of them seemed to last long without flaking off after some time, on the last one though i ran it through our bead blaster and flaked the chrome off so it was going onto bare plastic, this has seemed to work really well and hasnt shown any signs of flaking off. Took some time though!

My mate who works in a car body shop sprayed my grille surround over two years ago and it still hasnt flaked

When i next see him i will ask him what he did to prep the grille before painting
