getting closer...i'm excited now!

Featured Replies

my car arrived at the dealer this morning and I have been allocated a registration (thanks to the very helpful admin lady at Allams I was able to pick from a list of reg plates. Not quiet the same as buying a personal plate but I did manage to get 2 of my initials in the last three letters !! XX58 UJB) !!!

just got to sort the nitty gritty out (PDI, insurance, tax, paint and fitting of spoiler). looks like i will finally get it early next week :)

will it be the first petrol DSG in the UK ?

A " Happy New Year " then :D

sort off !! would have been nice to collect the car this week but due to the ineptitude of SUK it sat on the docks for 2 days without it technically being there (there is a known computer issue with some vehicles when they arrive that they need to be checked in manually and a flag ticked on the system so that the transport company can "see" the vehicle and collect it. this flag was not ticked so it looked like the car wasnt there !!!. apparently they know about this as its been an issue for ages !!.)

My plans to collect at the weekend have been scuppered by the need to get the rear boot spoiler painted and fixed on.

I am planning to collect on tues 6th jan !

After SUCH a LONG wait, the 6th is nothing to you by now I am sure :).

Really hope the car turns out to be everything you are hoping for bud

What a start to the new year a new car  Its been ages since i bought a brand new one but always loved that crisp brand new smell

Good luck to you, it does seem to have been a long wait for you :)

thanks everyone.

its been exactly three months. ordered on 6th october. drive away 6th jan.

I suppose thats not too bad - was expecting about 8-10 weeks. it will have been 13.

it does seem like a long time though. it has been hampered by xmas / new year but I have had my new Wii to destract me !! (well ,when i can get the remote out of my 5 yr old's hands !)

Drum Roll :D

I'd have thought it would have XX 58 JCB as its plate!

it did cross my mind. i looked into it but didnt want to pay the £300 for the private plate. Also i felt a bit mean as my wife will be driving in more than me and she earns the money that has paid for it. problem is her initials are CAB and I point blank refuse to drive a skoda with CAB on it !!!! LOL

XX58 UJB was "free"

All the very best with your new motor - I am sure you will be delighted. Happy New Year.

Don't worry you'd have no chance, all the plates that spell CAB...TAXI...HAK etc are issued, mind you if one was for sale it wouldn't be £300, start adding zero's and I'll say stop. ;)

well - i already have about 15 photos of my new car courtesy of James at Allams. he emailed them to me today. Dont want to post any yet as they dont really show the car in the best light - they were all taken with the car inside the workshop (so some of the pics are dark) and still with a lot of the delivery protection on the car. they are great photos to give me a taster but dont show it in all its glory. the wrong wheels are on it as well (17" being put on monday). boot lip spoiler is not fitted yet either.

Might have some pics monday as james promised to take some more when ts fully preped and ready.

must say the ivory interior with black carpets and satin blue paintwork does look the "mutts nuts" !!

James tells me its a cracking looking car and the spec is "ludicrous" !!!:)

It's being cleaned as we speak!

Once it's finished I'll take some more photos so you can see it in all it's glory.

I thought the CR170 engine was a pretty quite engine when idleing but the TSi is silent.

You are sad, because you haven't shared them! :)

Ray.

well - i would share them but havent done for two reasons :

1) they are not the best pics (no offence james). they were taken inside the workshop in poor lighting with a lot of the stickers / wrappers still on. James has not managed to get any pics today as the car is having the spoiler attached now and he has run out of daylight !!

2) i have no idea how you post pics on here 1!

We'll take some photos here when you collect it tommorow, and I'll upload them in the afternoon whilst you are on your way home.

Hopefully someone will spot you in your new car!

Looking good, be nice to see the shots when it is out in the open etc,

PS You might want to remove your number plate from the pictures?
