Service @ Progress Skoda

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any experience of the service facilities at Progress Skoda in Bedford?

I had my first and second vRS serviced there a few years back before it was taken over by Progress Skoda and had a bad experience. I believe all the staff have changed, so I have no idea what they are like now. I would like to use them as they are local(ish). My other alternative is to use Progress at Letchworth but again, I have no experience of them either!

Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks,

Justin

I've been using them since last april when I got my Octy Vrs. Have to say that my first oil service went without a hitch. However, I tried to get some warranty work done before Christmas and in short, they didn't do anything but said they had. I won't go into the details but for small niggling warranty items it becomes a challenge. I will also say that I'm very fussy when it comes to the details. If you know anything about cars, you end up having a pointless argument when in short as a customer they should just do it!!! The head bloke that runs both Progress showrooms has always been spot on.

Sorry for the rant but I think in the main they are bearable. If anyone else knows anyone better then let me know too...:)

Been to Progress in Letchworth a couple of times in the past 6 months for some warranty work and some smaller bits of work. Have to say that I've been very impressed with them and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone else.

Cheers,

Balham

Thanks for the advice guys, I have booked it into Letchworth as they were cheaper by £30  !!! Offered me a courtesy car FOC and are at least discussing the issue of rusting brake disc hubs!

You should be OK.

I bought my vRS from Progress Bedford nearly 2 years ago (Letchworth was not open then). There were a couple of items post-delivery that were, shall we say, technically challenging to them but at the time I put it down to them still being in the 'under new management' phase. I had the first service done at Bedford last April and all went fine.

Since then, I have gravitated to Letchworth as they are nearer and will probably have second service done there in April this year.

The one factor I am most impressed with them about is the 'Customer Care'; their staff always smile, are most friendly and make you feel like you want to do business with them.

I think their customer service is really very good.

I had the wind noise warranty work done - it's not been successful but is going back this week.

Hopefully they will replace with "modified" parts - rather than attempt another fix. Last time I got that rather nice but "Pimped" white vRS as a courtesy car. Wonder what it'll be this time - wouldn;t mine trying the new Superb ;-)

Oh and I forgot, at Letchworth they have a little kiddies area. My two are a little bit older and prefer the novelty of free coffee / chocolate machine (well mixing 2 sachets to come up will something very sugary!). One of the young ladies who works there was really happy to keep an eye on them while I did the paperwork.

Can't comment on technical service but have just bought an 18-month-old Octy vRS TDi off them and the sales service was spot on. Have been over the car with a fine-tooth comb and hgave to say I have no complaints.

Ditto to the above comments - the previous dealer based at Ampthill was truly dreadful - just about anything they could do wrong went wrong with my previous Fabia - and done with either a frown or a shrug!

But Progress Bedford / Letchworth has been a very refreshing change, including the service, for my Scout!

the previous dealer based at Ampthill was truly dreadful!

I found Tavistock Motors very helpfull. The owner even opened up the showroom on a Sunday for me (they were abnormally closed due to a stock check) so I could have a look at their brand new Fabia vRS demo car (back in 2003). I liked it that much I made a deal, he said he couldnt get anymore so in theory wasnt allowed to sell it but said as its was his name above the door he would do what he liked and sold it to me there and then.

I have worked with a few guys from Progress, all been good chaps but not that impressed with working there due to the management situations, but as long as internal politics doesnt cause the customer any grief then its kinda irrelevant anyhow.

I remember seeing that "Pimped" White vRS a few times up and down the A1, if I get that as a courtesy car I wont care about what service I get! Every time I saw it I almost regretted getting a yellow one!

I remember seeing that "Pimped" White vRS

The only variation to OE spec on that car (I've seen it myself several times at the dealership), and several other Progress supplied vRS, is the fitting of 18" B14 alloys. They really set the car off well; not pimp it in the slightest. ;)

The Service Manager at Letchworth is called Ivan and he is always very polite, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful.

I would have no hesitation in recommending him and Letchworth as the best service department I have dealt with.
