Does 2000 Fabia comes with a remote key ?

Featured Replies

Hi everybody

Few weeks ago I bought a used 2000 Fabia Comfort (1.4, 8 valves). Car did not come with a remote key. I wonder if this is normal or not ? (due to my stupidty I forgot to ask it to the seller..)

I heard that it costs like £150-160 if I pay for a new remote key ! :thumbdwn: Is that true ?

Please tell me that 2000 Fabias already does not coming with a remote key :P

my 2000 09 year 1,4 16v comfort with remote key

I believe remote and/or alarm was an option on those fabias. I had a 2001 fabia TDI and it had just a pair of keys and no alarm. Yet, the white X plate 2000 TDI I have has a vRS style alarm, and I was able to program a newer Skoda flip-key with flip key to do the doors and the ignition.

So, in essence, the answer to your question is NO, unless you asked and paid for it. :)

Hmm.. So, it seems like, the key I'm using right now is not the spare one and remote key didn't lost by previous owner. Car has a central locking though  But that doesn't mean that it has to come with a remote key right ?

Anyway, I can sleep happily now

Nah - if you have no remote, chances are it is the same how my first fabia TDI came, with just two keys which work both the door barrels & the ignition. There is a remote central locking option from Skoda that used a separate fob with two buttons on it. I was just lucky I think I was able to program a newer flip key to the TDI I got. I think it either came with the alarm system, or it was retro-fitted (as it has an "alarm fitted" type sticker on one window)

As you have central locking already fitted to the car, why don't you investigate the "Remote Control for Central Kit" supplied by Skoda. Part number BKA400001A. Price £105.00 inc vat. This does not include fitting which is estimated at 1.1hrs.

Currently 6 in stock at Skoda.

I can't open the link but that's a good idea. A bit expensive tough

Try this from Maplin -2/3 channel wireless remote kit (keeloq hopper technology) ---got one fitted to my 04 Fabiacomfort ,although at present only to open rear ( to direct motor).Only drawback is that it needs a regulated 12v supply ,and some form of interface to central locking (outputs are momentary or latched )

.Price for units -£32.99 for two channel (code L27bk).(PSU -I used cost about £10)

Also available from Quasar (www.quasaruk.co.uk)

My 2000 Fabia Comfort came with 2 VW style flick keys and remote central locking and factory alarm. It was ordered as a dealer demo for the Fabia Launch in March 2000 so maybe the garage specced it up a bit?

Ours hasnt got a remote key. 2 non flip keys exactly the same as eachother. Car has central locking. 2000 Fabia 1.4 MPI 8v. I have thought about it and would probably have just gone for an aftermarket remote. Had no idea Skoda did them aswell.
