Fabia Grill

Featured Replies

Ok so I've sprayed the grill and went to put it on last night but I do not have the correct size of screwdriver to do this. Does anyone know what size the screws are?

I've tried halfords but the one they sold didn't fit, can anyone help on this?

Cheers

Mike

whats it look like? - Is it the infamous ellusive torx35? ;)

Could be a torx20 though - there's a lot of bolts around that area which are torx.

well on the grill instructions it says TX30. They are those funny star(?) shape ones if that helps, gee aint I technical!

Jason help me!!! lol

YEP! Thats a torx 30 fitting... what the hell did Halfords flog you? :P Its like the ones that hold the glovebox in, but a bit bigger.... I should know those bolts quite well, as I've been taking that part of my wreck to bits recently... ;)

See if Halfords do an interchangeable head, ratchet screwdriver - which should come with T30 fitting in there... Most useful tool I've ever bought myself, and it only cost

lol must have been that but just the wrong size lol got a refund though. At least I know what I am asking for this time though I did qoute TX30 and they just looked at me blankly! Monkeys anyone?

Guess I should have know better than ask halfords staff as when I phoned up the other day they told me they dont do wheel packages only alloys and tyres!! lol *sighs*

Cheers Jason your a star matey!

You're welcome! Remember all this joy and knowledge stems from the aftermath of a horrible accident... ;) And my subsequent learning all about my car in its ultimate taking to pieces. :D

just phoned halfords, they do what I want but they haven't any in stock! :( why me!! Have to phone the next cloest one to me.

I would take my car apart but judging but the sort of luck I have it would only end up in tears!

Though I have done all the work on my car myself so far to which I'm very chuffed about!!

Would be worth investing in a small socket set too... I got one as a pressie back along, and its come in damn useful too for my wreck dismantling... It even managed to undo those big bolts which secures the door closing mechanisms!

(and with a wrench set you can get torx drives - with 1/4" drives is best!)

yeah I may well invest is some good tools as my brother has bugger off to leicester with most of mine! Dont you just love little brothers!!

Once again thanks Jason you've helped me keep my sanity from being lost!

Oh, forgot to add - If you get one those huge torque wrenches, with 3/4" drive... The added bonus is you can beat your colleague about the head with it. :D

I got it from halfords in the end, took about 20mins to do. Though I did do a jason (sorry mate). I went to test the grill to make sure it would catch but I hadn't put the "latch" back on, stupid limp wrist gave out and the bonnet shut! D'oh *smacks head homer style* spent 15 minutes with a coathanger trying to open it back up again!

But the grill looks great will post picture later in the week.

Mike

Forgive me for this but...:rofl:

The image of fishing for the latch with a coathanger is a peach! :D
