Electric windows reversed

Featured Replies

Hi-

Had some problems with my 1.4 petrol (year 2000).

Central locking stopped working - think it's the water ingress problem that's been posted on this forum. Local garage said they can't fix it and would need to go to dealer - think I'll just live without central locking. (Btw - in the course of the central locking failing it went through a stage where I could drive off with the alarm going!)

Anyway, another wierd thing that started at the same time is the electric windows driver's and passenger's are now reversed on the switch. Anyone seen this before and know a fix?

Many thanks for reading. My Fabia's still getting me from A to B which is good enough for me - even got the aircon fixed because hopefully it's got a few thousand miles in it yet (done 73k).

Had a similar problem when I changed the Battery (under bonnet)

Page 51 of the Fabia Owner's Manual:

Convenience operation of windows

Automatic closing or opening does not operate

If the battery of the car has been disconnected then reconnected, the automatic closing and opening function does not operate. The system must be activated. Proceed as follows in order to re-establish the function:

* turn the key in the lock of the driver door into the closing position and hold it there until all the windows are closed.

* release the key.

* once again insert the key and turn it into the closing position for about 3 seconds.

This worked for me - hope you find it useful?

Davie
