Felicia Skoda Felica Rad Fan not working

Featured Replies

I have a 1999 Skoda felica 1.3 . Last year the temp gauge stopped working and i replaced it and everything was working fine. Now the car is over heating. The temp gauge seems to be working fine, its gradually moves up the longer the car is on but the radiator fan just will not turn on to cool it down. I have tested the fan by closing the connections on the rad and the fan spins so i know its not the motor. I dont know where to go from here. Another issue and im not sure if its connected but the air blower in the car does not work either. I have had a look around and i dont know where this fan is to test it. Can anyone spare some advice on what to check next?

Thank you in advance

Steven

Check the fuse.

air blower does not work? as in the blower blows cold air or not at all?

if its blowing cold air then could be the water pump

OK had look at the fuses and found the blower use was blown. I was checkng fuse 17 which i ha read was the rad fan fuse but it was OK. So the blower in the car is working now. After some more reading through the forum it may be the Radiator fan switch that screws into rad. No idea if this can be checked. Any advice from someone more experienced in this would be great.

Thanks sisko for reminding me about fuses.

Steven

the rad fan switch does screw into the side of the Rad. You'll need a large spanner to unscrew it.

Fan switches are about £13 from my local skoda garage/dealer. If the parts are the same then I might have a spare in my former 1.6

definetly your fan switch, i joined the wires and run the fan permanent untill i got hold of a fan switch for £7.50 (Y)

and if the felly is like the favorit the blower is in the middle at the back when you open the bonnet take the top off and run a cable from the battery and earth it up to test it, i alsoo had the same problem!
