Solar Sunroof

Featured Replies

As I've said, in my experience the solar roof fan kicks in a lot lower than 25 degrees C (I'm sure of that, because we rarely get that sort of temperature where I live!). When I park my Superb on my drive, the fan only comes on when direct sunlight hits the solar panel - temperature alone will not trigger it as far as I can tell.

Please check to make sure that your heating system is not on "Recirculation," which may be the cause at the moment. My solar fan has always come on when parked in sunlight, no matter what the temperature. I'm fairly sure that this type of roof has been used on VW models for some time as well, so there must be some experience of it somewhere.

The ECU will need telling that it no longer needs to accept instructions from the solar roof, that's correct. I'm sure that this would be possible and I cannot imagine why the dealer says that it's so difficult - all they need is the relevant code. I'm sorry to hear that your dealer is not helpful - perhaps contacting the head office may help? That price seems ridiculously high and - as you suggest - is an attempt to put you off.
