New Superb II owner with phone query

Featured Replies

Hi to all out there in Skoda land.

We have been running our new Superb TDI Elegance for almost two months now and generally very happy with the purchase decision.

However one annoyance is the continuing problem I have with the phone linking system. I have my Samsung G800 paired with the car system and running rsap without apparent problems. Sound quality is good when it is working. However I am finding it consistently drops the bluetooth link at erratic periods of between 5 and 60 minutes from start up. There is no logic to it and no way of predicting when it will happen. Leaving it a minute and then re-connecting is fine until it again decides to drop the link.

Although my phone is not on the "approved" list it is one of the latest, with comprehensive specs and similar to one that is listed.

Has anyone had similar recent problems and found a solution?

I asked my dealer but they have limited experience with the latest systems (but indicated similar problems with their own demo vehicle).

Issues like you describe are often caused by poor firmware in the phone rather than the kit itself. Even if a phone is on the list, there is no guaurantee your handset will work as it may have an older version of the firmware than that tested as compatible.

Thanks for comment but I certainly make a point of keeping my firmware updated online every couple of months.

I am planning to double-check performance with a known Nokia variant which is listed again with latest updated firmware to confirm problem.

Welcome to the site.

welcome along best bet is to post in the superb section for a fast response ;)

Welcome to Briskoda

I pair my Elegance with a Nokia E71. This is also not on the "approved list) (or it wasn't,last time I checked) - but uses the same stacks as the E61, which is - and the E71 usually works fine. However I have seen occasional problems with the phone connecting and then dropping later - just as you described. After a lot of fiddling about, I discovered that forcing a hard reboot of the phone cured the problem. The method of forcing a hard reboot varies between makes and models. But taking the battery out for about 30seconds is one reasonably universal method. :-) A.

I've also got an E71, and see the same problem. Likewise, a reboot of the phone fixes it for me too. I'm still not sure what causes it, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious pattern.

Right now, my E71 isn't running the latest firmware, as Vodafone have yet to approve the most recent update. I'm tempted to simply override my product code, and apply the latest version, but I'm not yet convinced that this would fix the problem.

Bagpuss.
