central locking woes

Featured Replies

Some time ago my drivers door solenoid broke, and I posted on here trying to fix it.

I ended up replacing the solenoid with a second hand one from my local scrappy that I KNEW worked; but when I fitted it, it locked ok, then stopped working again.

It works on the key, but not the remote, and it's driving me nuts, so I took my old one apart to see if I could find out what's wrong.

Pics in a few minutes...

This is the inside. Everything seems to be in place and I didn't find any broken bits.

What I can't figure out is how the second from right microswitch is operated. Taking the plunger off reveals a green thingy underneath...

which I can move manually to hit the microswitch...

but when I turn the "key" (the round white bit top left) it moves the green thingy back one click, and then pushing the plunger down moves it back to its start position.

this is where it gets confusing (if it isn't already) - there doesn't appear to be ANYTHING pushing the green thingy back towards the microswitch.

I think this is the problem, but can't see what (if anything) is broken or missing.

Anyone else had the same problem, or taken a lock apart before??

There should be a bit sticking out of the back of the shuttle (the bit that move left or right as the screw turns). This rides in the groove in the green plastic arm moving it up and down.

There is. It moves the green thingy away from the microswitch, but not back towards it. I just can't figure it out. There is nothing broken and no bits of debris inside the casing...

Nothing appears worn out either. Maybe it's down to alignment of the parts...
