Hi - are any users of the above unit able to tell me whether or not you can use SD-HC cards, or just standard SD ?

Cheers

As far as I know it's only standard SD with a max size of 4gb. Bigpockets were selling 2gb for about £1.60 yesterday.

I've been having some problems getting the 4GB non-HC cards working.

Basically I pushed one in and within a second got "There is a problem with your SD card".

Now this could be because I haven't correctly copied my music files over - the unit is picky about directory structure etc.

So for safety you might want to stick to the 2GB cards.

crucial.com do them for around £4.60 delivered.

I stick to 2gb in my RNS-E, I have heard of issues with 4gb ones.

The new Bolero HU works with SDHC cards. Several users here on local forum have reported this.

Maybe with the newest firmware the Columbus also works? Has anyone tried this recently?

Personally I won't risk the upgrade of the firmware on my Columbus.

Reading over on some VW forums - people got hold of the latest firmware and there were far too many reports of "bricked" units.

All well and good if you've got some kind of warranty (Me touch it guv? No way, that white screen appeared all by itself).

But when you haven't got any warranty - £700 is a lot to lose :)

sd only

2GB max

this is what the manual says and users of the columbus in the superb 2 have tried larger cards and they dont work

Morrisons are selling 2*2gb sandisks sd cards £8:D.

Here's another option from 7dayshop - if you buy 3 or more Toshiba 2Gb cards they are £3.29 each delivered -

7dayshop.com - Online Store

At that rate you could get the equivalent of an 80Gb ipod for £131.60
