4 Year service Cam belt and water pump

Featured Replies

Hi Guys just had my 4 year service done on my Vrs at 34500 miles including fully synthetic,Cam belt, tensioners water pump and pads all round for £ 575 of the Queens finest at my local independant garage who has been on the go for years and i trust . I could not believe the price discrepency on the invoice for what he charged me for my genuine Skoda parts compared to what DM Keith was quoting me directly .They wanted £ 729 just to do the service cam belt and tensioners along with fully synthetic oil and that was without the pads . Then the Stealers wonder why they have such a bad rep. Oh and by the way the impellor on the pump had broken in half with one half still attached and the other half in place and luckily still getting pushed around HMMMN a close one methinks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schoolboy typo

Something to remember most dealers will quote to change the tensioner damper. Alot of independants wont (but not all i'll admit) and this part is best part of £80 on its own.

Plus dealers have massive overheads compared to independants, I see both sides of the fence and I can see hy they cost more.

I know where you are coming from Lummox but the difference in the price of parts quoted to me and what i paid at my garage was surreal to say that they had come from the same place and that is what stinks mate !!!!!
