Ivory Leather and Autoglym!

Recommended Posts

Having had my Satin Gret/Ivory Leather 170CR Elegance for just one month I noticed that the passengers seat looked grubby. On investigation it has a blue hue, as do the two rear seats, but only on the seat base, not on the backrest. Both my wife and two teenage daughters wear jeans very often, I do not wear jeans. It appears that the dye from the jeans transfers to the leather. My seat is not affected.

What I would be keen to know from other Superb owners with Ivory leather is if they wear jeans what effect has it had on Autoglym treated or untreated leather. I want to find out if this happens to non treated leather.

Having had cream leather for many years in Toyotas I have never had this problem, but then I have never had Autoglym treatment on leather before.

All answers gratefully received.

I was worried about having Ivory leather before I placed an order and got some advice from a detailer and number of dealers beforehand. What the detailer said was that it was common for dye to come out of jeans and that was something that you had to watch out for. They didn't think Ivory leather was a problem provided that it is cleaned regularly with a 'good' product and you don't let dye or dirt become ingrained. Keep feeding the leather. You need to find products that you are happy with. Whether Ivory is right for you or not depends on your lifestyle and family. What I was told is that you wouldn't want to have it if you went out fishing every weekend with four mates.

I used to use Autoglym products but have switched to other products from 'polishedbliss' and 'motorgeek' .com

I get my car this weekend and plan to keep some 'seat protectors' in the boot with a rug in the car just in case people get in with wet jeans, or we're out somewhere and get really dirty.

Chris, firstly good luck for the weekend...yes I do want ivory leather, as I said I have had it in three different Landcruisers over the last 8 years, no problems, jeans and all!

The blue dye cleans off OK with the Autoglym leather cleaner, but previously I used to clean the leather twice a year, based on the blue so far, I will be cleaning it every month at least.
