Maxidot glitch

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I've got a slight problem with my Maxidot. It has stopped displaying the radio channel in the top segment, though the middle and lower segments are working fine.

Not sure exactly when it started, maybe just before Christmas or just after.

It can display things like the low fuel warning, but not my radio channel.

I've tried the maxidot menu, but nothing brings back the radio display.

Any ideas?

This is a "known problem" and investigation to why it happens is ongoing. A temporary fix:

1) Disconnect and reconnect the radio;

2) Take out and insert again the fuse in the fuse box in the position No. 50;

3) Disconnect the minus pole of the battery, let the car stand for 15 minutes, reconnect the pole

Hope this helps you! Your dealer should be able to sort this out for you free of charge!

Enjoy!

JonA, will that fix it pernamently or is the problem likely to return?

The problem is likely to return, but I have no idea of how long it will take for the problem to return. I'll try to remember to post if i have info on a permanent solution in not to long. :)

I'm just over 1000 miles (4 weeks) from my first service, so we'll see what comes up. Thanks for your help guys, you're brilliant. The strange thing is that the line that is normally white above the middle bit has gone black and shows up darker than the blank areas of the little screen. It's all very odd.

I'm pretty sure the above mentioned "cure" will work as a temprary fix, just tell the dealer to check his TPI in ELSA if they are unsure about how to solve it :) I'm pretty sure it won't show up any fault codes.

it happened to mine a couple of times now, seems to work just fine after i remove the key and start start the engine

Well, last week, my car had its 10,000 mile service. The service was carried out by Palmers of Watford as Laser are no longer a Skoda dealership. The communication between the radio and the Maxidot was reset, but the problem has returned within a week.

:(

Other than that though, the car is running very well indeed. Palmers have agreed to have another look next Friday. It would be nice if Skoda could find a fix.

i've just got this problem too on mine which is a year and half old and has 5000 miles on it, more annoying then anyhting!

I thought I was not doing very well @ 7500 miles in 18 months? Nil problems, probably regret this remark?

Okay, well, 'Gizzmo' my Fabia 3 went back to the dealer on 13th March and had his Maxidot radio display stirred back into action - if this doesn't work, a new binnacle will be required. Skoda say this is a known issue with some cars and a new binnacle solves the problem.

Thanks to the chaps at Palmers for sorting this out for me.

:)
