Rear wash permananetly ON

Featured Replies

Hi

Wonder if anyone can help me please?

Recently noticed that my rear wash wipe wasn't working too well - so I opened the plastic cover & pulled off the black plastic nozzle. I cleaned it out with a needle - alla appeared ok - I then spent 10 mins re-setting it - making sure the spray pattern was correct!

When I'd finally sorted it the motor was working CONTINUALLY - not just for the 3/4 swipes as normal. In order to switch it off I havehad to remove the fuse!

Any suggestions?

If the motor is damaged - how do I get the rear tailgate cover off? how much is a new motor?

MANY THANKS

Stuart

I could be a leak you have.

The washer pipe might not be totally connected to the motor causing water to leak into the motor when washing/wiping.

This could cause water between the contacts and cause it to run constantly.

Just a thought anyway, may be worth a check again.

There are 2 screws in the boot trim, you need to remove these then the trim pulls down.

Its very tight so try and get a flat screwdriver or the like in behind one of the clips to get you started.

Welcome along.

If it still runs with the wiper stalk in the off position it will be the motor park position switch.

If it continues to squirt water it could be a stuck relay.

Thanks - most appreciated!!!

The wiper is ON all the time - not just when water is pouring out i.e. switch ignition on & rear wiper starts! So I've removed the fuse for the time being.

I'll have a go at removing the back panel tomorrow! Wish me luck - I did this on my Passat & its never been right since!

Hi Stu. Did you manage to sort the wiper problem because the same problem has just started on my Octavia? I haven't driven it for a week so I got in today and just gave the screens a wash and wipe with the washers. I did the rear one for longer than usual but then it wouldn't turn off with the stalk in OFF position and kept resting in the middle of the rear windscreen. I wiggled the arm a bit and when I started up again it came on for 3 strokes and rested in the normal position. "Great," I thought "Fixed!". But now it just keeps coming on – sometimes for 1 stroke, sometimes for 3

Does anyone have any ideas? Ta

PS Where do I find the fuse to turn it off until I get it fixed?
