just been quoted £256 for a service on my fabia vrs! bit of a shocker as ive only just bought it. its an aug 06 plate and had it first service in sept 07, it had covered 2,400 miles then. the prev owner said it had a check up (fluids ect) in oct but it wasnt stamped in the service book as it was only a check up! so now the car has only done 6,400 miles allthough it is overdue its annual service but at £256 does this seem right to you?

It does include replacing the brake fluid though.:(

Doesn't seem far off TBH, low mileage cars need servicing just as regularly (time wise) as normal or high mileage cars, in fact i would say more so, some people think that because a car has done really low miles its almost as new.

The truth is it has spent its life going very short distances (so not getting fully warm) and long periods of being stood still, both of these can often be worse that a high mileage car that is serviced on time.

Once serviced and used regularly it should be as good as a normal mileage car.

Fair price for a full 2 years service including brake fluid change. Garages have to make a profit or they go bust.

I worked on a 4 year old Mk4 Golf when i was at VW, the bill came to over a £1000.

It had done 6,000miles.

Sounds about right.

Brake fluid changes are normally about £50.

I got that service down to £150 by supplying my own oil and brake fluid (Dot 5.1) so I'd suggest that it's not miles wide of the mark.

not looking forward to going back to dealers when its not typical warranty freebies im demanding :D

a mate of mine just had his (cough) mini cooper (cough topgear fabia vrs rival cough) service and mot prep (NI garages cannot perform the mot themselves) drove car to mot for test waited and returned it then typical dealer stuff cleaned it etc texting him when its ready main BMW dealers total cost £123 makes this seem bloomin expensive.

I used to work at another main dealers and am well aware of the pricing some charge but never having had anything to do with a skoda before as nearest dealers is about 90 miles away im suprised they are so expensive on a basic inspection and oil/ filters/brake fluid change going to hit my dealers now about the leaky rear door problem :D and the BLT mani 14.5mm change hahahaha trip number 4 for warranty work coming up.

the prev owner didnt use the car for short journeys, they were abroad most of the time lol, but i get your point, it does come up on the dash "insp" so i guess its an inspection service i need plus brake fluid & oil change? still seems a bit expensive. im going to give some other skoda dealers a call tomorrow to see what they charge:(

They should change your oil and filter, pollen filter and brake fluid.

And give it an inspection.

Lub service is just oil and filter and check of tyres and brakes really.

Had my 2nd service and insp' done last week £292.08.

yeah, well, number three isn't far round the corner, and looks like it'll co-incide with 2 years' ownership, so won;t be so cheap.
