Felicia, Headlights not bright enough

Featured Replies

I have a 1998 Skoda Felicia, after replacing the left headlamp the lights are not bright enough on dipped, they are fine on full beam but when dipped it is like i have no lights on,it is really dangerous out of the city lights, there is light coming from them but it is really really dim, could it be a fuse? or bulbs? altho i used the same bulbs as before?

anyone help me pleze?

Hi and welcome to briskoda.

Some questions to try help.

Does the dipped beam indicator come on on the dash? (this does not come on if the fuse for LH dipped beam is blown).

Is there any difference in light intensity in both headlights with dipped lights on compared with sidelights? (If not the bulbs may be dead).

If neither of the above helps then it could be related to the aim of the headlights. Is the headlight adjuster in the 0 position?

Park at a wall/behind a car so you can see the headlights

Sidelights should be dim,

if they dont come on dipped beam when you push the button it could be the switch?

When you say full beam, do you mean the flasher (pull the stalk towards you) or actual full when you push the stalk down.

...thats the same thing... they're both full beam...

check the alignment and like anewman said, check the lights are set to zero on the levelling switch

I think what captain meant was if nothing happens by pushing forward, but it does by "flashing", then the dipped beam switch may be dud.

Well I meant that cause they might be two diff circuits.

The Headlight flasher just "flashes" the full beams on and off, where pushing the stalk leaves them on.

But you know if the bulbs are dud if the sidelights come on, and the full beams come on but the dipped doesn't.

Had this on one side of the Felicia.

And blown fuses will of course have the very same effect.

It might be a silly reply but are you new to Skoda Felicias? if so, are you sure the dim lights aren't really the side lights because you've accidentally pressed the sidelight switch next to the headlight switch.

It's not that silly, People who borrowed my car had to work out you needed the sidelights then the headlights switches depressed.
