Pre- Christmas near drowning of SE!!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

As promised - an update on the near drowning of my son's SE originally posted in ' Spotted! Was it you?'. My son got his car back on Wednesday

The car has been fitted with a complete new engine by Park's of Hamilton who completed the work neatly and carefully with the exception of a broken dipstick tube (broken at its junction with the steel tube which enters the block). A replacement is on order and should be with us tomorrow.

The car is driving well and it would be hard to tell that any work had been done apart from the shiney black painted block and sparkly cylinder head.

So the SE lives to fight another day!!!

Thanks again for all the concern and good wishes received at the time.

Kind Regards

Alan

Good to hear. So aside from the engine damage, the interior was OK was it? And other areas escaped too?

Has your new engine got a stutter?

OT but is it the same 'Parks of Hamilton' who are the coach operators?

Indeed they are the same as the coach operator - part of the Park's Motor Group based in Hamilton. Not a very friendly bunch but 'business-like' and the technician who did the work certainly knew what he was doing. Wonder what it all cost???!!!!

The interior was fine other than the dampness caused by leaking carriers in the rear doors!!! :thumbdwn:

I asked my son about the 'stutter' and happily he has never experienced the problem either before or after the work being done.

All that's left to do is decide whether we have to locate the new engine's number to advise DVLA ??? Oh!! And how to get the water out of the headlights and foglights!!

Relieved now that all is well. Pretty good experience with the insurance company too especially as it all happened during the holidays.

Alan

I'm glad to hear that it's all fixed.

I would have thought the lights would have been covered by the insurance tbh.

I think that Parks being 'business like' as opposed to friendly is one of the reasons they are still in business, I recall their coach drivers being aloof, and somewhat superior ( although on crap wages despite, or probably because, of the nice new coaches they had.)

Just joking about the lights!!! Although because they are 'vented' to the atmosphere there is some condensation in there.

I guess my son will (temporarily) have to be one of those annoying folk who drive about with their foglights on!! :thumbdwn: At least until the condensation is dried out!!

Your point regarding Messrs. Parks is taken Mr. Grumpy

Alan

Blimey! Sounds like that poor furbys had a shock. Your son ok?

Hi missp

Only thing my son had to worry about was me having a rant at him when I found out what he'd done. To be fair it was an oncoming police BMW X5 which caused the bow wave which 'swamped' the car. :thumbdwn:

He now knows not to drive through flood water if he can help it.

He's even a bit nervous now when it's raining!!

All's well that ends well!

Ta for your concern

Alan

Had visions of submerged furby or something, glad your son's alright!

We know all too well about flooding around here - I start working out which of the kids I teach I should use to help me whizz my coiles back to the top every time it starts raining.

Glad all ended alright tho
