Christmas Lights

Featured Replies

A couple of days ago the warning lights on my Octavia started acting up.

The first thing was being able to take the key out and the engine kept running.

The remote locking didn't work but when I went back to the car all was working again.

This happened a couple more times but each time it corrected itself.

Then it happened again and locked the car with the key various warning lights flashed intermittently.

I couldn't start the car and the AA man got it going said he thought there was something wrong with the ignition switch and I drove straight to my garage.

They laughed and said it was the ignition switch. But on investigation they traced it to the "black box" which controls the ignition, electric windows, and remote locking. They said the part was £180. They have ordered one and it should arrive on tuesday.

I noticed some one on here with a similar problem and they just dried out the fuse box...

Could it be that simple.

John

Worth checking, if the fuse box got wet then it could have corroded a bit and some things could be shorting a little. Thing is, water & electronics don't mix and whether the damage has been done or not is hard to know for definite :(
