VAG COM - Emergency stop doesn't make the indicators flash?

Featured Replies

Been playing with a friend's VAG COM today, enabled a few things, but one doesn't seem to work. There is a setting in the ABS section saying it will flash the hazard lights (both rear indicators, but upon trying to eject myself through the windscreen at 50mph, it doesn't actually work.

Is this one of those things that isn't supposed to be enabled for the Octavia?

you have to enable it with vag-com (which from your post i assume you have). you then really do have to perform an emergency stop and i mean stamp on the pedal. i tried it a couple of times and never got it to work however when i did perform a proper emergency stop once then it worked and has done subsequently.

Book says it works over 60km/h.

Well I'd expect it to flash after doing what I did to test it out, the ABS was going bonkers as I screeched to a complete stop from 50mph.

Moved to Vagcom for better response.

It works on mine but has only be activated twice once when i tried it and took hell of a stamp on the brake at about 50mph the second was when something pulled out in front of me. it wont go off slowing down fast on a motorway, but if you were to stamp really hard on it and try and lock the brakes hard it should activate it.:thumbup:

The Emergency Flashing functionality does come with some prerequisites. To make it actually happen the ABS needs be active for a certain time or alternatively the deceleration needs to be high enough.

When it comes to activating the function, this is a little tricky. First of all your CAN-Gateway needs to have a certain software version or higher, second the central electronics control module needs to support the function. Once thats all set and done it should work but don't expect to much from it.

how can this be done and will it work on a mk1 octy vrs 2004

Your Octavia (1U) blinkers are controlled by a simple relay, no real electronics/control modules involved - in other words... no.

@luke a... Any luck?

It's still enabled on both our cars but I have never stamped hard enough to set it off, I suppose we will only find out as / when we need it :D

i actually found out mine was still enabled a month ago when a cyclist pulled out in front of me and had to go from 50 to 10 in a very short space (it was a 50 limit before the you were speeding brigade come along). from what i remember the abs was slightly kicking in and due to stamping hard on the brakes this kicked it in.

EBA is on the Mondy, but you must have to really try and stop quick for it to kick in and fire the indicators.

Did an emergency stop yesterday to avoid 3 Pheasants running around the M1, and didnt get the hazard flash show up. Stop was from 70 to 0, foot hard to floor. After all, they'd make quite a mess.

find an empty bit of road get up to fifty and just hit the peddle in as hard as possible and try and lock the wheels in the process, should see it working :thumbup;

Will give it a go.

Have to get it enabled on the octy along with a few other things - perhaps at the meet in July.
