Which Re-map?????

Featured Replies

Right, advice time.....

Done my research, but there's nothing better than experience!

Narrowed the choices down to the following generic stage 1 re-maps for the 2.0 tfsi:

Jabba Sport - 240-250 bhp, 270-290 lb/ft = £340

Angeltuning - 245 bhp, 250 lb/ft = £325

Revo - 255 bhp, 285 lb/ft = £575

Bluefin - 245 bhp, 250 lb/ft = £390

Obviously I'm liking the Revo for the increase, and Angel for price, and also Jabba for the torque figures, but I'm thinking the bluefin is the best option due to it's versatility, ie as a DIY install it gives you the freedom to switch it on and off, and re-install after the main Dealer updates the ECU.....

Hoping for some thoughts, ideas from the expert briskodians!!!

Thanks in advance, Lee.

p.s haven't considered the APR from Awesome purely because I don't fancy the 600 mile round trip...sorry Sarah!

Firstly - from my own experience - take the figures quoted with a pinch of salt.

After I did the research I went for Revo and didnt look back. Got around 226bhp and 275lb/ft iirc. A big improvement compared to standard out on the road. :D

One more I'd add to your list as Ive been impressed with what ive heard and seen (at rr days) - thats the ipro mapping by Forge motorsport. Just my 2p's worth.

If you just need a generic map, ECU Evolution do a postal remap at £99. They use DNA maps.

I have checked out the ECU Evolution, but they don't offer a postal chip for the 2.0 tfsi, the re-map is cheap at £225, but you get what you pay for....thanks away.

I went through the same process just before Christmas, finally settled on the Bluefin so I can remove when needed (got a year left on the warranty) and can also get updates from Superchips.

Bum-dyno is very impressed over standard - finding traction in second gear is a constant battle :)

bluefin gave me exactly same figurea as quoted and give free upgrades to stage 2 remap. but revo seems proven to give much better torque

Simon,

I can see from previous posts that you've got a bluefin and seem happy with it, is the torque a big factor?

.... and Superchips BlueFin will also give you a Warranty, in case of a problem that Skoda UK then abdicate responsibility on their warranty.

The general gist of things I seem to get from reading these posts is that the Bluefin is great as a plug 'n' play option and ideal if you just want a remap, or only plan minor mods to your car in the future.

Whereas the Revo would seem more suitable for those amongst us who are perhaps looking at a more "future-proof" option, with a wider variety of mods to be added in the future. It seems a more "serious" remap, if you know what I mean.

Taken direct from F1 website

Torque

Literally, the turning or twisting force of an engine, torque is generally used as a measure of an engine's flexibility. An engine may be very powerful, but if it has little torque then that power may only be available over a limited rev range, making it of limited use to the driver. An engine with more torque - even if it has less power - may actually prove quicker, as the power is available over a far wider rev range and hence more accessible. Good torque is particularly vital on circuits with a number of mid- to slow-speed turns, where acceleration out of the corners is essential to a good lap time.

Replace circuits with roads :D Does that answer your question?

Also you can turn off the REVO Remap if you have an SPS switch

As I expected, I've received some great info, thanks to all, I think I will go for the bluefin, for various reasons, the main one being the wife!!! (I'm sure some of you can relate to that), and at the end of the day, I'm nearly 36, with two young kids, I've been there with 2 cossies, a calibra turbo and a race spec mi16 supercharged pug 309 conversion, so I don't think anyone can suggest I haven't enjoyed my motors, maximum mods I can envisage, are a panel filter and an uprated DV, hence the bluefin will be perfect!!

Thanks again.....

Plus, don't forget you can stick an exhaust on it and go for a Stage 2 for free if you do find yourself getting an itchy wallet

Mmmmmmmmmm......exhaust, I s'pose 36 isn't really that old!

6 years older than me :D:D:D:D

So would you recommend BSR for a remap then?

I think its either BSR or Revo for me.

Also have you looked for an exhaust system for your car yet? I cant find one anywhere but i know Milltek and BSR are close to producing one.

REVO do a trial for iirc 5 hours worth of driving time. See if BSR will do the same then you can decide for yourself which you prefer

Ok thanks i will give BSR a call today to see if they do a trial period.

Mite be an idea to wait til theres no snow or ice around thou lol

"That old"! I can beat your age by a good few years! I swore to SWMBO nearly 19 years ago I wouldn't get into "modding" again, but then it started...:D Small "mods" at first..., now I've a boat load of bits waiting to be fitted; once the snow melts & the weather improves!!! My arthritis you know :P

He he he!!!

I'm a Bluefin man myself, got great results and the stage 2 map is free should you want to upgrade. For the current offers on it, you cant beat it as the best overall package. (Value, performance etc)
