Changing Front Break System

Featured Replies

Hiii every body , i was thinking of changing the breakes system of 96 felicia as it sucks and i got alot of problems with it and i am thinking to put a larger discs and of course it will need to change the whole system so i need some one to help me:

what is the car that has a better break system and can fit in my felicia easily?

note:

i don`t need an ABS as my car not really support this technology

ABS was an option on the felicia.

I think the brakes are pretty good on the Felly personally... I have ABS on mine and if you make sure the disks and pads are kept good then they work very well!!!

You'd need to do some research, but Polo bits might fit?

Alternatively, you could try stainless braided hoses and new fluid, or new discs and fast road pads, depending on how long the fluid's been in the car, and how worn the discs are. Ignore upgrading the rears; there's no point since the wheels don't do much more than stop the back bumper dragging under braking.

Yeh I think the Polo 6n is a straight swap but not entirely sure.

Think the rear discs and pads are too (although you would have to take the bearing out everytime to change to discs but they don't need changing very often!

If the brakes feel a bit "crappy", Mine did when I first got my Felly.

Had the master cyl, front discs and pads changed (OEM bits)

The cars brakes felt a lot better after that.

I found an ABS thingy in the fusebox but my car wasn't equipped with ABS not that it ever locked the wheels in hard braking anyway.

Theres an ABS light in the Favorit too!!! But i know that hasn't got ABS either :D

ABS is the nuts, i often drive down the back lanes round Newington to Gillingham and the ABS is often working like mad front and rear on the n/s grass verges while braking in staight line, I don't if its 'cause the ABS has a pump but the brakes are suprisingly good and not really ever suffered brake fade ( could be because i changed to super dot 4? and manually adjusted and greased the back plates on rear brakes, so on the rolling road for MOT will lock the back wheels as well as front) Not ever driven a non ABS Felly but if you could retro fit it would worthwhile:D

Not driven a non ABS one either... but the ABS is pretty good... just floor the brake and let it do the rest! lol

I find when the ABS does kick in the peddle goes hard under my foot and I can feel it pulsing.

i was driving without brakes for a couple of month after the master cylinder got damaged, so i bought a VW jetta Mk2 one, disasemble it, change the bushings fit it on my feli and blead the entire system, before i had the front pads changed and the back one adjusted, after chagin the fluid (witch as like cofee dark) brake feel good and is just literaly putting my foot on the pedal all thats needed to brake (cant get better than that)
