Boost Sensor

Featured Replies

Hey guys

just found that the sensor on my intercooler is not plugged in!! and theres no wire near by that i can easily see! car is a 1.8T elegance, is this supposed to be connected?? as it could be causing a problem im trying to fix

Thanks

It's a pressure sensor and yes as far as I'm aware it should be plugged in.

The plug you are looking for is the one I'm removing in the picture below. The cable for it runs down the pipe from the throttle body to the intercooler, held on by clip things. It might be tucked under the washer fluid bottle or down the side of the engine near the belts?

Yeah thats the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor, and I'd imagine the ECU won't be happy with it being unplugged!

Ive had the car 6 months and i havnt unplugged a thing! i shall do some fiddling in there and see if i find a plug!

I've just checked mine and the MAP sensor plug wire should run up the pipe between the intercooler and throttle and then join onto the same bit of wiring as the plug for the throttle position sensor. These then run up and under the front of the engine cover (just in front of the fuel rail) to join the rest of the engine wiring loom. Good luck in your search :)

Well i have had a look and have no wiring! i see the clips on the intake pipe where it would go but no spare wires or plugs to be found, so maybe its something the agu engine doesnt use?? im still trying to find whats causing a strange ticking type noise under load, when it makes the noise i am down on power, feels like a boost leak i am thinking so will check all my pipes and connections over the weekend and see if i find anything

did you get to the bottom of this problem yet?

i found my problem! that map sensor is there just to fill the hole in my car by the looks haha, no wires to be found anywhere, the problem i had turned out to be loose manifold to turbo bolts so i was loosing exhaust pressure which was making my noise and lack of power, was strange how it was only intermitent for a long time before it became more constant
