What do you think?

...... spend some more on some masonry paint instead ;)

Lovely colour BTW. What is it? It looks like Aubergine or Blackcurrent. My wife has an SDi too. She never got it from me - Honest :D

cam7777 - why on earth would you want an SDi over a TDi??? SDi's are sooooo slooowwww.....

Lol i would but i dont own the place and I am moving out in the next 4 months! plus our landlords a d*ck so I'm not really inclined to help him out. Our next place is much nicer and will be ours and i have already painted the front of the house!

Yeah i would much rather have the TDi although the SDi is very simple... not as simple as my mk2 golf or corrado.

My mk2 driver project - Club GTI

That is my thread for my golf project

That's looking great! I love MK2s

I used to have a MK2 Driver as well! It was a G reg 3 door in a very light metallic silvery blue. It was a great car and took us on two touring holidays to Scotland and back I loved that car. It was a 1600 EZ engine with a Webber carb and a GTi cam. It flew!! I then decided I needed more power so moved onto a MK2 16V GTi..then I needed more reliability so got a MK3 GTi....then had kids and needed more room so got an Octy. I guess from your Clubgti username you used to have Polos? My wife has had 3 Polos an now has an SDi. The Polos were great reliable little cars.

You're right about MK2 Golfs / Corrados being simple - a joy to work on. Straightforward and easy access to the components you need to get at. Open the SDi bonnet and nothing is easy.....

Yeah I had a SDi polo before the fabia. Great car superbly reliable, which is why i went for the fabia as i knew what to expect. But this skoda has been a complete s*d. Its starting to come together now. The last owner hadn't really looked after it!

The corrado failed its MOT on saturday so i have two new wishbones, top mounts, drop links to go on. and the rear brakes need attention! I love working on the rado and the golf but dread going near the fabia with a spanner.

Did the GTI cam make a difference then? as the mk2 is running a webber carb on a standard 1800 engine. If i put a GTi cam in would i notice much difference?

Yeah, get a GTi cam. Do a search on Clubgti. A few years ago there was a member called Rich_gti or richgit or Richgti or similar who had a Driver with a GTi cam. He did a big write up about it.

Be warned about the Webber in the cold weather. Mine kept on freezing up on motorways causing huge power loss and juddering. I did not have the little heater connected and this was a problem. Search for Webber+heater+freezing etc

Ah interesting stuff as the engine is very healthy for its age so i'm going to be using that but if i put a new cam and timing belt on it, it should keep it going for that bit longer and that bit better!

I only managed a cr*ppy rear photo at lunch cos the weather is rubbish down here!

I love the "FAB" - Brilliant :D

Well i lost my "I" and thought I'd remove the A aswell and clear it up a bit!

As you can guess i dont take my fabia too seriously! its not a performance machine!

Mines a Sdi too :)

It is...?! Wow, I thought it was a fancy vRS! Well done fella

The problem with the TDi is that I drive like miss daisy and don't do the performance available justice.

Had a problem recently which was a clogged EGR, got it all cleaned out and now running sweet again, mechanic told me to give it more stick so now change up at 3000 rpm instead of 2000 rpm.

Funny thing is my mpg has increased from 53 average to 58.

Mine was fine with the heater connected.
