Zenon question

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Quick question, I have the standard zenons and am aware that they auto level. What I was wondering is if they do this auto leveling the minute i turn the ignition on or when I turn the lights on. I only ask as sometimes when I turn on my lights they dont auto level, so might they have done it already when the engine was started?

Many thanks

This may answer your question, The lights, with the igntion on, wil dip down, then back up, once they are turned on. Very noticable especially at night, they will drop a good 6 inchs when pared up against a wall.

If they do not drop, then there is a good cahnce they have not been "calibrated" so to speak from new.

This can be rectified, adn see if they have been done with the use of VCDS (VAG COM)

A dealer should also be able to do this, but my experince of past few dealers, they probably won't have a clue!

Hope this helps.

To answer your question, yes they do. When they self level, you hear a faint "whir-whir" as they go up then down. This "whir-whir" happens if the lights are on when you swith the ignition on or not. It makes sense, as you wouldn't want to auto lights to spring on in the face of oncoming traffic, then flip up and down as the self level, blinding the oncoming traffic.

The lights only auto level when the engine is running not when the ignition is on. If you start the car and then turn on the lights you might miss the auto levelling happening. Switch the lights on first before you start the car and they should auto level everytime.

Yes, you're right, I said ignition meaning turning the car on! With autolights they will come on if dark enough with just ignition, but turn the engine on will then cause them to auto level.

they will auto level within the first few seconds of starting even if the lights are not on.
