Why does it take 200 Miles to Put on the CEL ??

Featured Replies

Reading up on here re. Egr, removal, Blanking Etc Etc.

Some people have no CEL & Others have it pop up after a few Hundred Miles

You would of thought that it would show up straight away if it was going to, re. the different values Etc.

So why is this ??

There are also Quotes Re. CEL's & 54 Plate Vrs's, is this when then changed to a Motorised Unit ?.

Cheers

mines took around 200... sometimes shows sometimes doesnt :)

The more you pussyfoot about, the quicker it will come on. The valve is programmed to close up more when you cane it, so with the ecu reading the values of the EGR, the more you cane it the longer the CEL will stay off. I tend to take it real easy on my commute, so have CEL most of the time, but after a good thrashing it often goes out again.

noob question but whats CEL?

Yeah its an adaptive figure. So it takes some time and a sequence of drive cycles to realise its got a fault.

We can make adjustments to the map to relieve this CEL issue when removing egr.
