I currently drive a 97 Celica but am seriously thinking about getting an Octavia vRS.

I joined to get access to the wisdom of the Briskoda Collective

So will the 2005 Octavia vRS give me the same kind of awesome driving pleasure my Celica gives me???

If it's a Celica GT4 then probably no

But the vRS's are good cars or if you got a 4x4 Octavia and put a bigger turbo on it you'd have something with similar performance to a GT4

As said elsewhere, a standard Octy vRS won't match a Celica GT4, but will match a 2WD car (more power, and IME better steering).

I have the 2WD JDM SS-III.

Better steering is a big claim to make...a lowered superstrut Celica is pretty tight

But, exactly what I was hoping to hear

Personally I find the steering on most Toyotas pretty numb and uninvolving; although they turn ok there's no feedback.
