help with some felicia modifications?

Featured Replies

hi im new here, obviously lol, i bought my felicia for 200 pounds and thought id sell it straight away and get a car with a little bit more street cred, but after hearing someone badmouthing it i quickly changed my mind. at some point im wanting to change the engine but the only thing holding me back as of yet is my dislike of the interior, could any body give me a list of standard seats that would fit straight in maybe out of a golf or polo etc?

one more thing, does any body know where i can find an ignition live? my stereo runs my battery dow if i leave it in overnight, even when turned off.

thanks in advance and any ideas for other mods are welcome

interior i was contemplating changing the color to a darker one, tintin the rug black and re doing the seats, with some accents

as far as the battery goes,,, i realy, realy, realy doubt is the radio most use 5 amps @ 13 volts now thats on full blast, on stand by it would be a fraction...

none of the golf stuff is gunna bolt in without some custom fab work.

the car is based on the skoda faverit, witch was designed and built well before vw had interests in skoda. there for cross over of parts is not very common.

as for the battery. change the altinater and the voltage regulater, that is the most lightly problem

well done with your £200 i hope you enjoy it.

If you think it's the alternator or battery and not the stereo staying live even when off, I'd suggest going to an auto electrician, who'll check which is faulty, and be able to supply and fit a replacement, all for sensible money.

i hear what your saying but the only reason i think it is the stereo is that the problem went away after it was removed. and thanks for the seat advice im sure i could find a set i like.

did you by any chance have a stereo AND an amplifier and you removed them at the same time... or did you wire the stereo incorrectly maybe (i've seen a lot of head unit install and sound crappy but when wire correctly they seem to push out double the power)

It's a common problem with aftermarket stereos flattening the battery on a Felicia, there are many threads on this forum that back this up. My own and my sons batteries will go flat after 3 or 4 days if the car isn't in use, both are very recently bought so it isn't the battery at fault and the problem goes away if replaced with the oem stereo.

Hopefully someone one day will post the correct method of fixing this problem without the usual second guessing. :P

the thing is u cant wire them correctly atall in felicias, the have only permanent lives, absolutely no ignition lives.

i i'm guessing you did, and yes you can wire them correctly

take a wire directly from the battery standart 18 gauge for the radio 16 for the amp (since it carries more load and is longer)

Wire Gauge Tables

if instaling amp, take the signal from the radio (blue cable or blue with white stripe if two) and run the 16 gauge wire, and the signal to the amp, get a ground from sorce close to the amp

now for the head unit conect the 18 gauge (straight from the battery) to the yellow wire (check color code with headunit manual) witch is the main and connect it with a capasitor of same amp as the headunits fuse twice the voltage (24v) and the red from the headunit (check the color code with headunit manual) and conect it to any yellow wire from console (yellow is a switch wire) of decent caliber (car radios use this for turning on only, dont require amps)

Head Unit Wire Harness

http://www.bcae1.com/headunit.htm

now when you turn on the car the radio (and the amp) will turn on, when you turn the radio off (or the car) the amp will turn off aswell, standby power consumcion is just for the radios internal memory and clock, so very, very little

if you want (and your headunits has this option) your radio lights to go on with the car console lights connect the orange cable from the headunit (check color code with headunits manual) to the light cable that feed the center console (air conditioner switches)

i prefer conecting with two capasitors for the main(yellow) and a resistor and a gate the accesorie(red)wires together, since i turn off my engine a lot, and when i leave the car, just take out the face of the headunit (it will still turn everything off)
