Throttle Pedal

Featured Replies

Good Morning all on this white and cold morning.

I have a strange issue with my 56 Elegance Octy which would be good to see if anyone else has had, searched the forum to no avail, so i'm guessing im on my own?

This morning on the gingerly drive to work, about 200 metres from works car park the throttle wouldn't work. I coasted into the car park, and realised that the bottom of the pedal has become detached from the floor!

I can't see a way of re attaching it to the floor, and am awaiting a phone call back from the dealers as to what to do. The car is under warranty still and this shoud be covered I hope? But even if the roads were clear i'm not sure i want to drive it anywhere!

Thats my morning grumble over

Cheers

Ian

Oh dear :thumbdwn: personally i've never heard of that one.

You might need to get it towed back to the dealer to be fixed. Its unlikely they will do it where it is because they might not have the part in stock. Either way as its under warranty it should be FOC.On the other hand they might find it was due to accidental damage meaning no warranty. Even if this is the case I would still push them citing poor design or something

Either way, good luck with it

Breakdown cover is valid for three years, so a quick call to them should sort it out.

Scary !

Would a couple of pieces of duct tape from the floor to the foot plate provide a working hinge and locate it securely enough to allow you to (safely) drive it ?

Thanks for the replys, after waiting for the dealer to eventually call me back, the general consensus was to phone Skoda assist and let them rescue me!

The helpful and very friendly Skoda Assist man was with me within the hour which considering the conditions was fantastic, we repaired the hinge temporarilly using some very sticky sailcloth patching from work and then followed me to the dealers.

I am the first one the dealer has seen with this problem, however the Assist man has seen it a few times on Octys but more regularly so to speak (more than few a year) on Golf mark 5's? with the same throttle unit. They generally think or guess that i may have had something under it in the past, like a small stone which over time has levered the bottom, slowly cracking it slightly. The colder weather today has made it brittle/and or the angle I used the throttle just was enough to crack the remaining plastic left. Aparantly it is quite a common call out to have no throttle as such and it is generally stones under the pedal, I haven't had this problem that i know of before so strange!

Anyhow, car in dealers, part ordered, fitted tomorrow all being well. they have no idea of time having never fitted one before! All should be under warranty, unless they can prove miss use of pedal apparantly, so that will be interesting as how can you abuse a pedal that gets pressed and released?

Walking ot work tomorrow, so hopefully no more snow!

Regards

Ian

Glad you got it sorted.

Good news all things considered.

If they persue the misuse claim then I would suggest **** poor design if stones can get under it and bust it. It is a footwell after all and we can't all be expected to check for stones every time we get in the car  Failing that, a call to Skoda customer services might help.

Hopefully it won't come to that though :)

Calling Skoda customer services will be a waste of time.
