Remote Locking Problem

Featured Replies

I brought myself an Octavia VRS a couple weeks ago, great car (especially for a bargain £1800!) except the remote locking doesn't work which is bugging me.

I've got two remotes - neither work.

I've replaced the batteries in both remotes and then tried the re-programming (one key in ignition switched on - the other locking the door and hitting the button once, pause then twice) but still no joy.

What should I check next? Is there a fuse in the car which may have gone?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Dan.

Do all the doors lock/unlock with switch on the driver armrest?

Yes they do.

OK. A reset of the convenience unit may be required. This is done by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes.

If you have a petrol then the car will run like a bag of spanners when you first start it up again until Throttle Body adaption is complete. It will do this itself, although it can be done with VAG-Com.

In some cases setting of the convenience unit may be required to program the remotes and this will require VAG-Com

any results with the yet?

Yeh I disconnected the battery for 10mins but unfortunately this didnt work.

So how simple is it for me to reset the convenience unit with VAG-com? Think I may be pushing it now.... can a garage do this for me cheaply?

Maybe off topic but I tried to fit a non-skoda radio today to replace my Symphony & CD Changer. (the cd changer has no power and I miss my music!) Anyway, when the new radio was in the remote locking stopped working. When I put the Symphony back in, the remote locking worked as normal. Without any radio in the remote locking was also fine. Do you have the original radio/cd in Dan?

Hi. I have hooked up the OP's car to vagcom this afternoon and need some helping interpreting the findings:

1) the "key in ignition, key in door barrel" thing didn't do anything

2) setting channel 01 in section 46 also didn't work. However, when it was tested, and saved, you pressed the remote key and there was distinct, audible click from behind the dash, assumed to be emitting from the central convenience module. However, RCL was still not working.

Keys are 2 button affairs which I assume is irrelevant (as I have 3 button one). Central locking worked fine with key in the barrel, and both keys were programmed to the car, verified via channel 21, instruments.

Have sent away Dan-s2k a little disappointed I couldn't fathom it 100%, so hoping someone here can suggest the next stage. Is he looking at a replacement central convenience module. That "click" was very ominous of something working...

Do you not have to erased learned values in convenice before coding, i know this is the case on VW, Audi and Seat.

46 conv ecu

10 adap

channel 00 reset to 0

then code key

did the light turn off in the car when the doors where shut and the remote was used?

The car came with the original headunit however I have now fitted an aftermarket unit. The central locking didn't work with either the orginal or aftermarket headunit in place so I assume this is not the route of the problem.

I don't think anything happened with the lights when we pressed the buttons on the remote, just a small click from somewhere behind the dash as devonutopia mentioned above.

Thanks for your time yesterday devonutopia, much appreciated. Hopefully someone on here will be able to explain where we were going wrong..... I really miss having remote locking!

How do you code the key? You mean with one in the door and other in the ignition thing? Or do I need a code..... as I don't think i have one.Anyone else think this may work?Would really like to have central locking sorted - its a must have for a lazy git like me, think of all those unneccesary calories I'm burning by having to physically put the key in the lock each time.... I don't know how much longer I can cope!?
