Snow and the Superb.

Featured Replies

Given the well publicised problems of water ingress, I would advise anyone who has to park a Superb/Passat outside in the present weather conditions to block the plenum air inlet. A couple of rolled up towels positioned just below the wipers will do the job.

It's a pain, but this car is so badly designed that the consequences of a pile of snow melting and running inside all at once are not worth risking - even if the drain bungs are out and the seal re-worked.

The misery factor of this **** up is so high it's worth the trouble - thanks, VAG.

Think I might do this, i'm having enough trouble as it is.

Whereabouts in the chamber can the damage be caused? I sometimes park with the nearside wheels up on the kerb and the offside in the road and so I guess this would cause excess water to drain from the drivers side of the plenum chamber - is this a bad thing?

The design is just a disaster - the drainage and sealing arrangements are just not adequate.

Keep the drains clear, seal the pollen filter housing and keep as much water out of there as possible at all times. Never park a Superb/Passat facing uphill in the rain.

..

After two days I finally shifted a foot of snow off the car.

I lifted the passenger footwell mat to have a peek for any water but the carpet seems extremely well secured so I didnt go any further, where exactly should I go to have a look for water ingress?

Cheers!
