Coolant leak

Featured Replies

My '97 Felicia 1.6 GLXi has a coolant leak. It is leaking from between where the plastic body housing the temperature sensor meets the engine. I think the gasket has perished. Is it possible to get a new gasket for this joint and fix it myself or would it be better taking it to a garage?

The leak is slow so I can still drive the car. I just have to check the coolant level before setting off and top it up if necessary so getting to a garage isn't a problem.

I don't know if you can get the gasket by itself, or only with a new 'stat housing. Our site sponsor, Jorily will know and be able to supply mail order either way.

It's an easy enough job to change; just make sure you've a litre of antifreeze to top up with afterwards.
