Non remote central locking

Featured Replies

My wife drives a September 1999 Octavia 1.6LX. This was the pre-facelift equivalent of a 1.6 Classic (only actually is slightly higher spec in most ways except ABS). Like a Classic the central locking is key operated. In the 11 months 1 week that we have owned this car the central locking has been 'fixed' twice but 1 week after the last fix the problem has come back. It is as follows:

Locking works when the key is used, but randomly locks itself anything from instantaneously after being opened to hours after ward. Both when car is being driven or is parked and turned off.

First time the dealer said it just needed something in the cars computer reset. Second time they said a switch at the drivers door lock was jamming!

Anyone else had this type of problem, and if so what caused it and how was it fixed?
