What should I expect to pay ?

Featured Replies

For the following work to my wifes 1.4mpi.......

Front coil spring replacement.

2 x Lower bushes replaced.

Thermostat housing replacement.

Water pump replacement.

Steering angle sensor replacement.

Any advice will be appreciated :thumbup:

Springs should be replaced as a pair. Timing belt might as well be changed along with the water pump. Add the bush replacement and steering sensor, and it isn't going to be cheap unless you get an independent garage to do the work. You are looking at a day and a half labor all in, plus parts. I would guess about £700 if your lucky.

Edit: Disregard timing belt part, having an off day, was thinking about the Polo 1.4 16V for some reason

If its JUST the housing, I have a spare one you can have, easy job to fit yourself.

Er, there isn't a timing belt on the 1.4MPi - AFAIK, the water pump is driven off the auxiliaries belt... ;)

Timings are:

1.3 hours for the pair of springs;

1.3 hours for the bushes;

0.7 hours for the 'stat housing;

1.3 hours for the water pump;

Dunno about the PAS sensor, but it's 0.9 hours for the pump, and I wouldn't expect it to be more than that.

So you should be able get the job done in a day. Probably a couple of hundred for the labour, then, although I couldn't really say on the parts...

Thanks guys....

I've been qouted

Coil spring £ 80.00 I think this is just one though...

Lower bushes £110.00

Thermo housing £ 76.00

Water pump £150.00

Steering sensor £140.00

Suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet :mad:

Or I could always scrap it :thumbup:
