50k Service Parts needed?

Featured Replies

What bits do i need for my 50k service?

its on fixed servicing and the cars a 1.8t

on my list so far is;

Air Filter - Got pipercross panel already so will hoover it out.

Oil - Mobile 1 - 5w30

Oil Filter - Cheapest I can find

cant think of anything else :confused:

Cheers

spark plugs? and why the cheapest oil filter. Not all oil filters are equal. may as well go to dealers and use original as they are cheap enough from there.

I would think about gear oil change as well at that mileage. only another £20 or so on top :thumbup:

50k is a lube service so just oil and a filter.

im going to be doing the brake fluid aswell but a friend will be doing this and ill be supplying the fluid.

How easy is it to change the gearbox oil? is it really worth doing? as i thought most gearboxes where sealed now?

Pretty easy, well worth doing.

This thread shows the drain and fill plugs http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/gear-box-drain-fill-plugs/125234/ You will need a 17mm hex drain plug socket, funnel with tube and 2 litre's of oil. I used Castrol TAF-X 75w 90. There are some oils that these box's don't like though I think it's silkolene synthetic oil's but am not 100% sure. Worth a search to be sure or maybe someone can help answer this.

Add's about 15 minutes to your service schedule but as the cars in the air it's well worth it.
