Another 'C.E.L' !

Featured Replies

Hi all

Yes my car decided to throw another Check Engine light at me this AM , combined with some rough idling , so I assumed that I had fried another coil , but , not so! Went to my dealer and the workshop foreman attached the VAG1552 to my car , turns out I have a faulty O2 sensor in the exhaust , along with a sporadic pressure drop somewhere in the turbo set up (not sure when the 2nd fault was logged and may have been there some time) Anyhow the fault(s) was cleared from the car and I drove it home without seeing the CEL again, a new 02 sensor has been ordered. (i was told there are 2 O2 sensors on the car , and that it should be ok to drive it if the CEL comes on again , at least untill Wed when it goes in to be sorted , does this sound ok?)

This happened on both my own and my partners previous fabias within the space of a wek or two. Both cars were about a year old. When I spoke to the garage first time about this they said we were the only people who had come in with this problem. Since then apparently tons of cars had been in with it. design fault apparently.

Did you continue to drive your Fabias until a new sensor was fitted? Which engine did the Fabias have?

Cheers

both were 1.4 8v

both were drivavbler after the initial probelm as the engine management system was able to compensate for teh fault some how. (AA guy told me this)

Duncan,

I think you'll be ok. O2 sensors, could this be the next saga. I have not seen this yet and mine has 34k miles on the clock.
